IR/RF universal remote

Anyone here familiar with the All For One URC-9910 Home Theater Pro RF/IR remote? One thing I'm interested in is how wide is the IR beam from the repeater? About half of my equipment is in a rack and the other half is set-up with the TV, about 15' away and at a 90* angle. Programmed macros won't work for me, because the equipment is too far apart for a standard IR remote to control both sections at the same time.

I'm not familiar with that particular one, but I've used the URC-100 with the add on RF base (which looks similar to that one) and it worked extremely well. I had to use the little wired IR repeaters rather than allowing the base to do it, becasue it was sitting in the cabinet with the gear in question, upstairs.

Check this out too

The URC-9910 is one of the family of pre-programmed remotes with limited memory for learning from other remotes (2-3K) and is branded as One-For-All. I think that model is JP-1 compatable as it is essentially the 8810 with the addition of the RF capability.

While they are great bang for the buck, they are very limited. The IR beam, either from the remote or from the blaster on the RF base station, is limited to about 30 degrees on either side of center. I owned a prior version many years ago and it didn't work reliably past about 10 feet.

If you have more than a few devices and want to step up in the line, I would look at the URC-100 JGarcia mentioned as a minimum, but even better jump up to the MX series. You have to buy the RF base station separately, but they are in a different league than the One-For-All models.
