IR Flasher Frustration

Anyone have a good technique to get these little buggers to stay on?!! Every day or so one them has fallen off and the wife is bothering me because things are not working correctly. I'm using the supplied double sided tape and I've tried regular double sided tape. I'm about ready to glue them on.:mad:

The worst ones are on the sat receivers. The brilliant mind that designed them made the surface slightly concave so the flashers have a hard time being installed flat. All components should have a 3.5mm IR in!:D

Heat and glue dont last long:rolleyes: We used a hot glue gun in some cases. If the cable management is easy, replacing gives new life. Velcro cut right does well also.

Hmm, mine have been great. I installed a new bdp last night, and I was indeed wondering if I could just restick the old emitter on. No problem.

I understand the stb thing, and when I did the URC for my brother, I just taped it on!

I guess I would try what bandphan suggests, and just a buy new set of emitters. They've got to be cheap I imagine . . . heck, if you buy Scott a Harp t-shirt, I bet he'll just send you a lifetime supply for free. :p

3M VHB tape (it is more like sticky plastic). Resists heat pretty well and sticks like mad. Amazingly also leaves no residue. I've used this stuff in my car to hold things down - my car is black on black, so in the sun it gets pretty hot and this stuff still holds. Not cheap and doesn't come in small quantities, though you can often request a sample.

I've used emitters in the past and did not have these issues. They stick fine to the old dvd player. Oh and I did try new ones first. It was a dual model and I was having issues with what I thought was signal strenght so I went back to some Niles ones I had around.

I already owe Scott so I'll have to send him a care package.

I think I need a clear tape so the emitter hits the eye properly. I don't have doors on my rack so I need to stick them to the component.

It IS clear, but probably not clear enough for what you need it to do.

Ahh sorry. I think I have something similar to this stuff for protecting the door jams on my new car. I'll check and see if the same place has this stuff too and see how clear it is.
