IR emitter problem. Huh?

Hey folks. :) (Am I in the right sub-forum?).

I am currently enjoying a URC RF-20 remote system with blaster, and I love the thing. I am currently using 3 emitters from the blaster, and they go to my Bluray, HD-DVD, and Receiver (Onkyo 805).

My system is no longer controlling the 805 via emitter. I CAN control when using the line-of-sight IR built into the URC, and of course with the stock remote.

The emitter flashes just fine though. I've even plugged all the emitters into different outputs on the blaster just to see. Same issue.

Has the emitter gone nuts? Does the glue on it cause issue or something (for I've heard some people even use glue guns to reapply the emitters, and without issue).

Huh? Should I just pull off the emitter, and attach a spare?

Thanks.

Yes they can be glued on, but id only do that if you can control the flashers output. If you need that base station or emmiters pm me,,,,,,

Sweet. The AH version of a booty call. "Hey, baby. Your receiver or mine?" :)

BTW, Scott - that was a very nice offer on your part to send the base station!

Problem solved

Kinda stoopid, as is expected with these sort of issues, eh? Firstly, thanks a lot bandphan for offering to send that stuff my way! A blaster no less. Way too cool on your behalf. I am humbled. I've given out too much rep in last 24 hrs, but I'll git ya. :D

So what happened: I detached the emitter, with the hopes that replacement with a spare might work. No dice. So, I pulled off the new emitter, and started holding it in the air, pointing it at various places on the receiver's display.

It worked great after I moved it to the left an inch! LOL. I had to play for a while to figure this out, because hey, I am a genius.

I originally did look in the manuals for IR sensor placements back when, and I'd do my best to guesstimate. Works like a charm now. The funny thing is that the prior placement worked well for months... strange.

Anyways, problem solved.

Later today, I need to find out if its my receiver or amp that has a very subtle buzz in the right surround channel. I already swapped speakers to make sure it wasn't a speaker issue. I suppose if its an amp channel, I could use the receiver's amp instead for the rears, and have the surrounds connected to the properly working amp channels...

Then I want to re-run XT again for various reasons.

There is no end!

thanks again, bp. U R DA Best.
