Not sure if this is the right forum, if it needs to be moved, please do.

I have a 40gb Ipod photo. It recently crashed on me (shows me the apple, then tells me to go to apple.com) None of their solutions worked. When I connect it to my comp, it doesnt recognize it. Just wondering if there is anyway to get my music off and on my comp (just got a new one). Its about 8 grand of music (I actually buy all my cd's) and I only have maybe half of those cd's still, and even less of them copy without skips. Anyways I can get my music back?

Have you tried looking in your new computer's disk management? Go to Start, Right-click on My Computer, Select manage, point to Disk Management near the bottom of the list on the right, and see if your Ipod shows up as a disk on the list along with your main HDD. If not..then i'm sorry but there is no easy way to recover your music, aside from contacting agencies that perform data recovery. I'm not a big fan of ipods...

There are several hacks out there to get music off an ipod.

Here is a link to one http://www.purpleghost.com/index.php?q=tunejack

This one is 10 bucks but if you look around you can probably find one that is free.

I would also try and troubleshoot to see if it is hardware or software. Does the interface port on the bottom work with other devices/chargers?

Good luck.
