Hi guys
This is probably old news to many of you, although it's perhaps good to repeat such a good thing.

buy the camera connection kit for iPad and voils, you have a very cabaple music server, that is, if you do have a well performing usb dac.

iPad Streams High-Resolution Audio to DAC1 | Benchmark Interaction

For the Benchmark DAC1, this is plug-and-play.....
Remarkably, this connection requires almost no setup configuration. You simply insert the USB adaptor into the iPad's dock connector and connect it to the DAC1 via a normal USB cable. That's it! Now you can play audio from any application on your iPad and achieve the high quality digital-to-analog conversation of the DAC1.

tests show that:
• there is no evidence of signal processing
• there is no evidence of word-length reduction
• there is no evidence of sample-rate conversion
• there is no evidence of data compression
• it is capable of streaming up to 96 kHz, 24 bits
• streaming via Wi-Fi is also transparent up to 96 kHz, 24 bits

I actually stream lossless music files M4A from my iPad to my Denon all the time for music listening. It sounds like I'm listening to the actual CDs. Lossless. Great sound.
