are the volume controls impedance matching?
12 speakers = 6 pairs right?

Sonance (www.sonance.com) makes some of the best multi-channel amps on the market. This is a company that specializes in distributed and in-wall audio, so their stuff is great.

Speakercraft & Niles also have some excellent stuff.

A 12 channel amplifier with (likely) about 30 watts per channel should give you plenty of ooommppphhh! to drive the speakers very loud without any issues at all.

Definitely need to know how you are balancing the impedence on the speakers so you don't mess up the new amp as well.

Amp options

If you have impedence matching volume controls set up properly, then you should be able to buy one or two stereo amps for your application.
For example the Behrenger A500 amp will output over 200 Watts / channel into 4 ohms. When configured properly, one of these $180 amps could deliver over 30 Watts to each of your speakers. Exprect to pay much more for a 12 channel distribution amp with equivalent power.

More specifics on the speaker and VC model numbers and specs would also help us advise you.

I use sonance VC's but their multi-channel amps are very expensive ... touching 1k USD I think. (for the 75w x ?)

I second using the Sonance VC's especially the VC60RIM which has a selectable ohm jumper. (the VC30RIM only has an ohm doubler)
