Internet Radio - Denon 3808

Hello,

I am trying to activate my internet radio for the first time through radiodenon.com. I think I might be having a connection problem with my setup.

I have the ethernet cable from the back of my receiver hooked up directly to my laptop which has wireless internet. I tried using the internet radio feature for the first time as it says to do before I can register on radiodenon.com, but I don't think the receiver is connecting properly. It does not give me any error messages but the receiver does not send the necessary information to vtuner (radiodenon) in order to allow me to register. I even waited after I selected the "internet radio" feature on the receiver as it appeared to be hung up but it responded after a few minutes. I read that this just means that the information is being sent from the receiver, and still no luck.

1) Am I able to hook the receiver up directly to the laptop or does it have to be hooked up directly to the router?

2) If I am able to have the receiver hooked up to the laptop, then do I have to change any of the internet options (ie. firewall settings, etc.) in order for the receiver to get a proper connection?

Thanks for your help.

Mark,

Hi. I don't actually know, but I'd guess that the Denon should be connected directly to the router.

There are some people here with the 3808. Perhaps they'll chime in once they see this thread.

I'm sure the Denon manual provides zero technical information on how the internet radio feature works but it MUST be assigned an IP address. You cannot connect the receiver directly to the laptop.

If you have a local network with a router set to automatically assign IP addresses (DHCP) then you should be able to connect the receiver directly to the router.
