Some of these sites have equipment a lot cheaper, but how do you know what you are getting. Has anyone ever ordered off any sites and if so could you recommend some. A lot of them say in new condition, but why would they be that cheap? Thanks for any help or insight. I would order from them if others had success.

Check places like bizrate or reseller ratings. If they arent listed, dont buy. One of the best places to buy cheap gear is eBay. Combine Paypal fraud protection with seller feedback, and you can be pretty sure that you wont get hosed. On the other hand, a questionable electronics e-store could simply take your credit card information and never talk to you again.

Just list the sites you are considering, then see who has any information about them. I used some pretty questionable sites to save alot of money on some of my gear. I was lucky, everything went well. I have no warranty, but I saved. For the best luck, make sure there is a contact number. Get someone on the phone first. After the stress I went through waiting on my products, even though it went well, I would recommend using a site that is trusted. My favorites are www.yawaonline.com/miva/merchant.mvc?, www.wildwestelectronics.net/, www.onecall.com/, www.audioadvisor.com/, and http://www.6ave.com/main.jsp

Another great place to shop is Audiogon, they've got 100x the selection that eBay has for high end electronics.

Stick to the on-line sites that are real stores not just internet businesses. Amoung the best that are authorized resellers of all their equipment are J&r Music, B&H Photo, Crutchfield, and Onecall to name 4. These sites offer products from the large manufacturers such as JVC, Sony, Yamaha, etc... at great prices because their overhead is much lower than Brick & Mortar stores. If you are after something more high-end such as Creek, Adcom, or Parasound then checkout Audio Advisers.

I have bought from all these stores without a single problem.
