Internal Speaker for Zune

I'm interested in putting a piezo element into my Zune as an internal speaker but I don't really have any idea where to start.

I don't know how much room I'll have after I do some sanding and grinding, but I know there's not a lot of room, that's why I wanted the piezo.

Any help?

Basically, my issue is the piezo I have now is too quiet, and I need it to be louder, but taking up the least amount of space possible.

Any help?

As you've noted - it's unlikely there'll be much spare room inside the enclosure, so that may not be a viable route.

You could perhaps make a small add-on speaker module that connected to the Zune's headphone socket (I'm not familiar with the Zune, so don't know the layout). Alternatively, you could try making a new (bigger) enclosure, but I suspect it would be difficult.

Finally, I'd be surprised if you could get much quality of sound with a tiny source. If the goal is some level of portability, could you just take a small pair of flat panel speakers with you? If the goal is playing gangsta rap at full volume on the back of a bus, then I can help, but only with a baseball bat ;).

I actually think I might be able to hack something together after I grind away most of my case. I have a 3v button cell battery, the piezo, and I SHOULD be able to make enough room to fit a dangerously hacked amp in there somewhere. I don't know how well the battery will run it, but I know that there are some that run on a couple of AA or AAAs. The Fiio E5 is really giving me hope of fitting something in my case. :D

Flat Panel speakers isn't a bad idea either, but I want to see if I can get it INSIDE the zune. More to show off than anything else.

And I sit at the front of the bus, and I'd be playing some streetlight manifesto at full volume. :D

Sounds like an interesting hack. Post some photos when you're done - I'm sure people would be interested in seeing the results (I know I am).
