Hi guys! I haven't posted a lot but I've been stalking this forum for about 3 years now.

I'm starting to get the itch and I think I should scratch it.
The DIY itch, that is.......

I was wondering what you guys would recommend for RCA plugs to make interconnecters. Has anyone here used locking plugs like these

or should I just get something like this

Also, what do you guys think about WTB plugs?

If they sound different from these, I would be very surprised.

I'd be keen to try some of these Canare connectors. I saw them being sold online for a little under $4/each. I just like the internal risers that are used to grip the connector jack.

Those do look really nice. Do you know where you saw them?

I just found them doing a Google search and looked at some of the shopping results. There's a place called Markertek listed at the top, but there's also a listing for an eBay buy-it-now auction with the same price.

Have you looked at compression connectors? Not sure what cable you are going to use, but I have made my own interconnects using RG59 and RG6 and compression RCA connectors from F-Conn (RCA, F, BNC). You will need a compression tool, but if you are planning on terminating your own cables, then I highly suggest one. This really makes for a great connection, and gives your cables a professional look.

They're probably fine but they require a special crimper, which usually is made only by Tessco and costs about $80. A regular coax crimper won't work on those.

I was also thinking the same thing. But the idea of locking RCA sounds really convenient. My stereo tends to move around a lot.
ANY decent RCA plug will fit snugly enough that it won't come out from occasional movement. The danger from using the locking ones is that if someone (I won't say who) forgets to unlock them, they can damage the jack. This also happens when cables sold by a company that likes to sue people are used. The plugs are too tight and it's almost impossible to unplug them without messing something up.

Remember- the plugs don't need a death grip, just good contact.

I never had any problems until now I bought a 12 ft. componet from mono and it just wont stay in the back of my hd dvd they are extremely loose and now I just disconnected for fear of one popping out and shorting something out. They are fine at the rear of the dlp, maybe the connectors on the toshiba are not quite right.

When I say move, I mean from house to house. Right now I am using said cables from said sueing company and they are a B**** to plug and unplug.

I was thinking about Belden 89295.

treat your connections with Caig Deoxit, followed up by Deoxit Gold or Deoxit sheild and your connections wont be so hard to get on and off. Also they come off better with a twisting motion vs just pulling straight back.
