Interconnect Question

I have a silly question, silly because I'm not familiar with cable and connector impedance. My Emotiva XPA-2 arrived today and I realized that the only coax RCA interconnects that I have on hand are monoprice's best component video connectors (the right length) and a couple of way too long subwoofer cables. I would think the subwoofer cable would work but I'm not sure about the impedance of the component video cables. I'm out in the sticks but can have coax stereo patch cables here Wednesday or Thursday.

I believe all of these are 75ohm.

I will see if I can confirm in the meanwhile.

edit: Can't find it at Mono's site, but I would either email or call if you want to be absolutely certain (I'd be surprised if they weren't 75ohm). Email & number below:

Thanks! I know that subwoofer cables are 75ohm but I couldn't find any specs for component video cables. I'll call them in the morning.

BTW that amp is a back breaker to move. :D

Monoprice confirms that coax CV and coax RCA are both 75 ohm and should work interchangeably. I'm running the CV cables until they can ship me some new cables. I've decided to spend the $20 and replace all 5 of my receiver to amp interconnects with Monoprice's good stuff.

Strangely enough the XPA-2 sounds a bit different from the XPA-3. I know amps should sound pretty close to the same but at the risk of sounding delusional there is a difference that goes beyond power reserves. Not just the little bit of added punch to the mids but highs sound much sharper and maybe a bit bright with my ribbon tweets. I called Emotiva and they said yes that's normal because of the higher-end output stage is a bit more detailed sounding which according to them can be mistaken for brightness. I dunno I'm not an electronics guy but I'm even experimenting with MultiEQ again.

Seriously, I have no life.

You really don't need 75 ohm cables as interconnects as there is no impedance matching between the two connections. It will work, yes, but no real need to spend any extra amount especially when you already have cables on hand.

ALL RCA video cables are 75 Ohm, and as mentioned, you don't need 75 Ohm for analog audio.
