Integrated amp/preamp suggestions

Happy new year, all!

I'm looking to update my very old system. I have a few pieces that have served me well, but a couple of items are sorely out of date. In particular, my integrated amp/preamp.

I'm using some B&W Matrix 801s, which, while wonderfully true on sound, are power hogs. Hence the need for a specific kind of product:

Any suggestions for a good AV amp/preamp that supports 7.1, has HDMI inputs/output, allows for a pre-out on main speakers, but has integrated amps for the other speakers? I know there are a lot of other bells and whistles out there nowadays, but that is the minimum functionality I need, and I can compare other features later. :) I am just having trouble finding a good starting place. If possible, I'd like to stay under 2k.

I just don't know who the better manufacturers are any more.

Many thanks, and best wishes to all in the new year.

Newegg has had the 4311CI on sale for around $1200 lately (yesterday was the latest). If you decide to go for that model, I'd say definitely look/wait for a sale.

Wow. Thanks for the very quick replies, gentlemen. That looks like an excellent choice. I will definitely be giving it hard look this evening, and may have a new amp on the way soon. :D

Most of the mid level receivers from all manufacturers will have preamp outs for all channels these days. If you are getting the matching speakers to go with those guys, I'd say just get a multichannel amp for all of them or a 3 channel for the mains. I have not really seen a receiver that has preamp outs just for the mains in years, and really there's no benefit to looking for one like that anyway.
