Steven Wilson never ceases to amaze me. Fans should pick tihs up immedately. It is a semi-autobiographical movie, but ultimately ends up being a very insightful and honest commentary on the direction of music and the music industry in general, but also some great observations about life as well. One of the comments I found most profound was that we spend 99% of our lives neither happy nor sad and it is that other 1% where we are experiencing either extreme happiness or sadness that ultimately defines who we are. While it is a bit odd, directed and edited by Lasse Hoile, the artist responsible for much of the disturbing imagery used by the band, the editing and images used seem to very much align with what Steve is saying. It is almost like watching a collection of both of their thoughts, which ultimately is sort of what a film truly is. I also found is various methods for destroying iPods to be quite entertaining as well.

If you haven't heard this solo album by Steve, I'd recommend Porcupine Tree fans check it out. It is different than PT, so don't expect something similar. Each of his side projects are very distinct from the rest of them as well, though this is probably closer to PT than the others IMO. I personally feel it is some of his best work thus far. The DVD does contain some music on the second disc (bonus tracks), but the album is not included. As for the DVD, I'd say this sums it up pretty well:

When I passed on that DVD A to you, my rig wasn't working correctly. I'll have to borrow it back and watch the DVD. I've been away from music pretty much since before Xmas...time to get listening again.

I've watched the film and a couple of the extras from the 1st disk. I enjoyed it quite alot. If you're a fan, it's interesting, if not...probably not. The 5.1 video of one of the Insugentes tracks sounded great. I hope to get into the 2nd disk this weekend.

Thanks for the borrow, John.
