insulating wall to unfinished room?

Next to my family room is a large unfinished storage room. The wall between the two is drywalled on the finished family room side but just studs on the storage room side.

How is this affecting the acoustics of my family room? Would insulating between the studs in the storage room be of any help to the acoustics of the family room? My sub is located right next to this wall so I would guess a lot of sound is just passing through...

Here's a link to a drawing of the layout:

Yes. Insulate the stud cavities but don't drywall the back side. This will slightly damp the drywall.

Thanks Bryan...so just use the regular rolls of pink stuff? Curious - why not drywall the back side of the wall (not that I want to - just wondering if that would adversely affect things).

Well, you can drywall if you want and if you have low frequency issues with noise entering the theater. Otherwise, more likely its mid and high frequency issues that will be better absorbed with exposed insulation.

Yes, standard 'fluffy stuff' will be fine.
