Need some advice. I have a HD projector and I plan on mounting that as well as the new motorized screen I bought onto the ceiling of my HT room. Any advice before I mount both onto the ceiling. I just want to make sure both the projector and the screen and secure and safe when I mount it. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Welcome to the forum. Which projector did you purchase? Mounting the projector is one thing, setting it up and calibrating it another...some are easy, some need a professional setup. First and foremost, mount the projector properly and true to the screen so as to avoid any keystone adjustment (if your projector has it).

I have the Sanyo Z4. Ive used it against the wall so far but me and my wife have just moved into the new house and I am finally able to set it up the way I want to. My issue is, I want to mount it to the ceiling as well as the projector screen and want to make sure i dont skip any important steps.

Why does this post sound familiar to me???

Anyway - you want to be sure that you hit the ceiling studs for any mouting hardware that needs to support weight and you want to be sure that you are using bolts that are rated to hold 3 times the weight of the actual equipment you are putting up.

Since most 1/4" hardware is more than enough to hold a couple hundred pounts, that's what I likely would go with and recommend. Once in a ceiling stud, you could probably hang from a single bolt without it coming out.

Once your screen is up, on center, where you want it, then you hang the projector. I typically have flipped my projector over, and pulled out my ladder and positioned the projector almost exactly where I've wanted it on the ladder. Once I have the positioning perfect, I check for studs in the ceiling, then move the projector forward or backwards a few inches so that the ceiling mount will hit the studs perfectly.

I personally always use Chief ceiling mounts because they have very flexible setup options and are incredibly durable.
