Installed an amplifier, no radio signal

Hey everyone,

I just finished installing an amp and subs into my car. The amp runs the subs fantastic... well when I am streaming music over bluetooth. I was driving around today and did not have my bluetooth connected, and I was just going to listen to some radio. However, when I tried to listen to my normal stations, they were all very static and I could barely hear the music. At first I thought that it was just because of the dense fog, but I turned my amp off and the stations worked like normal again. Any ideas on why this is happening? And how can I fix it? I really like the bass boost that the subs give but if I cannot listen to the radio without pulling the amp fuse then they are going to have to go. I believe that the amp is a 2000W class D amplifier.

First, this is a home theater forum, not really a car audio forum, but some of us do have some car audio experience.

The first thought when you say "no radio" is that you probably pulled the antenna connection out of the back of the head unit during install. Been there, done that, had to re-pull the head unit and re-plug the antenna.

Now, your item with the radio working fine when the amp is disconnected seems to be a bit of a head-scratcher to me.

How did you connect the remote trigger for the sub amp? Where did you tie in that signal? Where did you tie in the amp ground to the chassis? Did you run your sub amp power line straight from the + battery terminal?
