Insignia Receiver, who makes it?

Who makes the Best Buy house brand Insignia receivers.

Model in question, Insignia IS-HC040917.

It has a discrete output stage, Toroidal Power supply, and two 10,000 uF capacitors. Is there any possibility that this receiver may be as good of a deal as the Insignia bookshelf speakers discussed on so many forums?

Thanks in advance,

Probably made by the Godless Commie Slavemasters using child prison labor...of course, that's just my opinion - I could be wrong. But not likely:rolleyes:

It also has an input wattage of 500 watts, so it may come close to it's wattage output ratings. It is probably short on surround features, but I could care less. I don't use Pro-logic and DSP modes, and the X-over in my M&K is likely to be better than what's inside the receiver. It also has Component, S-Video, and of course Composite switching, two coaxial digital inputs and one optical. It is by no means loaded, but for $150 or less it could be a very good deal. This is asuming that it isn't made by KLH or some such crap. I owned a KLH receiver a few years back and it was the worst audio component I had ever purchased, I just hope that the Insignia is in no way similar to that.

It has been found. It is manufactured by Guangzhou Aivin Electronic. The Model is Aivin S610TR. It is made in China and sadly does not have component video switching, I must have been hallucianating.

I am getting more and more excited about getting this receiver. I has stereo pre-outs.:D So I can add an amplifier to the front channels relieving stress on the internals and diverting that to say a Behringer A500. I get a powerful system for less than $500, it is beautiful.:D:D:D:D

Seth,

When are you going to buy it? I think it's $134 when you buy it off the Web site. I'll be interested in hearing your experience with it. About the only other receiver in that price range at the moment would be the Pioneer 516, the Onkyo 304 (refurbished) and some others. I briefly had the Pioneer. It sounded quite good. But, I didn't care for all the noise when switching modes (it wasn't the switch that bothered me as much as the noise that could be heard through the speakers.)

I will be doing a review if I get it, and I am very excited to say the least. You may have been able to tell by all the grinning.:D

The stereo Insignia is also interesting, it has pre-outs and amp-ins. I think it is very cool that these insanely cheap receivers have odd little features like this. That doesn't mean they didn't cut corners. They probably have a real shotty interface and other strange things that are just plain weird. For example the digital coax inputs are red and white rca jacks, because the configuration is cheaper. This makes no difference in terms of the connection, it still does the same thing, just looks weird or confusing when it does it.
