Has anyone seen all the buzz regarding these bookshelves at Best Buy? I may have to go take a listen this weekend (on sale). I like the cabinet and driver. Some have said they use the KEF UNI Q driver and are manufactured for Best Buy's Insignia brand name by a company called Radiient.

Here are some threads from other sites talking about these little guys.

This site did a review on a surround set of Radiient speakers a little while back:

Hey, they're back.

I remember these from a couple years ago when they were blowing them out for like 50-60 a pair. People bought them, modded them, had fun with them and for that price why not?

I remember someone openned the box up (removed the driver) and noticed the cabs were curved by using a series of cut ridges, so they filled it in with something to add mass and sound deadening. some played with the crossovers as well and supposedly got some sweet results but i never laid ears on them modded or unmodded

prob still a pretty good deal at 80 a pair. I remember them being pretty well regarded as a price bargain. Don't expect magic, but I could see them being used for a sweet little theater or 2 channel set up for the budget/bang for buck oriented.

Don't bother talking to this guy, he's copying and pasting old threads.

beyond the point of this clown jacking up postings....
I just picked up a pair to play with about an hour ago for $80. They actually sound surprisingly decent for their cost. I intend to do a few of the mods I have seen and I'll report back.

Insignia is Best Buy's own in-house brand, so I doubt they will be replacing them with a different one.

The buzz about these speakers came from the fact that they were $50 a pair at one point. That buzz pretty much died 2 years ago when the price went up.
