Ok people I have tried to ascertain some very specific info regarding the Athena Technologies ASC1.2 center channel speaker BUT to no avail. So, I will try to get a comparison between the Athena C.5 center( from the Point 5MKII speaker package) and the ASC1.2 respectively. I am fully aware that that many Athena owners do not care for the ASC1.2 very much because they claim it can NOT keep up with the F1.2/F2.2's when they are being used as fronts. However, others seem to think it is fine if you are using the ASB1.2/B2.2's instead. But how much better is the ASC1.2 in terms of clarity???? How much better is the dialogue when using the ASC1.2?? It is hard to understand the dialogue when using the C.5 center. Can anyone compare the ASC1.2 center to anything such as the Paradigm CC-170 v.3??? The reason I ask this specifically is because I used to own one and as such am very familiar with it. Has anybody here ever been able to do a DIRECT comparison between the two??? Or, better yet been able to with anything else on the market??? Please help.....

Well, you never responded to my last post in your center thread, so I shall repeat it.

well, If you boosted the center channel up (this would not be under calibration, but more preference) a more efficient center would be a better option.

The AS-C1.2 should match well with the point 5's, as all Athena speakers seem to carry the same, bright sound.

If you wanted, the old fronts you had could go as rears and you could have a 7.1 setup with the Audition series up front and the point 5s in the rear.

You should really go hear them. Or better yet, PM a member with the speakers in question and ask them. I'm sure they'd be happy to help.

As mentioned in my original post(or least I hope I did) I ran my YPAO function then did some very critical fine tuning. The center is STILL not real clear--you know kinda muffled. I prefer a much more forward sounding speaker that is very crisp and clear BUT not over bearing or too bright. Basically, I would just like to hear the dialogue w/o having to turn my volume way up. I set the level almost all the way and it is still weak sounding to me. I am about 10 feet away from my center speaker and I am using a Yamaha RX-V757 receiver.

Center channel

Have you tried adjusting the position of the center channel? Consider putting it below the TV vs. above or angling it at the listening positon. Asside from that, you would probably need room treatments or a speaker upgrade to improve the center channel.

Agreed. If you are having a hard time positioning the center channel so it aims at you, try a door stop! :)

Yeah I already have the center angled up to the listening position on (2) door stoppers. I know it is not my room because I did not have this problem with the Paradigm CC-170 v.3 center. When I sold my older stuff the guy that bought it wanted "it all" and as a result he got the CC-170 v.3. I was using the Titans as fronts then and it worked quite well. My TV stand has a place for a center channel speaker and it is about the same heighth as my S.5 front that are on 24" stands. The same goes for the rears--both are on 24" stands about 2-3 feet from the listening position on each side completing a 5.2 system because of having (2) powered 8" subs. It kinda looks like I just need to move to a better and bigger center and that is why I was hoping the Athena ASC1.2 would suffice---maybe I was wrong.
