Hello All -

Would like any input if you can.. I have a 7.1 Yamaha a810 receiver and Klipsh 5.1 surround. I have been using 5.1 and recently acquired 2 Klipsh rf-62 floor standing speakers as a gift but due to the layout of my room, i cannot use the floor standings speakers for the front. I will be placing the speakers on each side of the sofa. What setup can i do for the 2 floor speakers just to be use as output for music? I hope I make sense and thank you for looking.

Does the receiver have the option to run a set of "B" speakers? If so, this will use the same amps as the front channels and send a stereo signal to them. You can turn the "A" speakers off and have just stereo coming from the "B" speakers.

Unfortunately A/B selectors are a feature that yamaha has decided to relegate to only the highest end units. What sources do you use for music? As long as it is not digital you can set these speakers up as Zone 2.

Edit: The non-digital stipulation is true for my RX-V765 but may not be for your receiver, check the manual.

Thanks for replying. If you mean zone 2?, i do see it. So zone 2 is where I setup the RF-62's and still use the Klipsch HD 5.1 for the surround?

Correct, you'll be leaving your 5.1 setup plugged in exactly as is and adding the RF-62's to the Zone 2 posts. Hooked up like that you will be able to use the RF-62's separate from the 5.1's as a standalone stereo setup.

Fonts would be the best use for the floor standing speakers. Anything else will be a waste.

/s Dude, you might as well donate them. /s

Floor standing speakers

Hi :

I don't know what type of room that you have but if you really can not use those floor standing speakers as fronts why don't you sell or swap them for some rears and change your 5.1 to 7.1. that is if tou have some room. You can always instal rears on the back wall behind the couch ??????????????

Just a thought it sounds like you really are not that enthused about these speakers.

Good Luck

If he doesn't have room for floorstanding fronts I imagine he'd get FAR less utility out of surround backs than he would oddly placed floorstandings. The idea of an exchange, if possible, could be good though. Could you possibly get a pair of nice bookshelfs in as the fronts instead?

Letting go of the speakers are not an option :D I will see if i can make it work by using it as front. Will take pic for you to see when my post pass 5:p

You can use the postpad thread or answer some of my idle curiosities, like how do you feel about your klipsch 5.1 HD setup. I've kind of wondered what the quality's like and if I could recommend them to friends who would like to have cheap systems.

I would not recommend Klipsch speakers. Our Best Buy has Klipsch and Polks, and when I compared both, the Polks were far and away better than the Klipsch.

Personally I've liked every klipsch speaker better than any polk I've listened to, but I've never heard that far down the line.

So if I'm looking at this right putting them in front of the walls would obstruct a walkway, correct?

Any chance you can move the TV stand elsewhere and put a bookshelf or display case in the alcove?
Thanks for the input!! Don't know why i didn't think about it . Did some rearrangement and it works so much better now.
