Input desired New 46 inch LCD choice

Well my 4 year old 42inch plasma has developed a problem (and no extended warrantee). With this I am finding myself in the market.

Lookinbg at 46 inch LCDs. Desired items are HDMI 1.3 and 120 MHz.
Currently it seems I am between

Samsung LNT4671F
Sony 46XBR5

Interested in any thoughts form you.

I went into this with a slight bias towards the Sammy, but after spending some time with both, I find myself leaning towards the Sony. PRiicing that I have for these are within a couple hundred of each other and both are within my desired range, so that is not playing a factor between these 2.

Being that setup can play a part, and I haven;t found another store with both to do another audition, I am curious as to your thoughts, as well as any other models I should look at in this range.

Sorry to hear about your plasma. Four years isn't that old for a TV.

As for a 46" LCD with HDMI 1.3 and 120 Hz refresh, I'd also suggest looking at the Toshiba 46LX177. I've seen it for under $2500 on sale.

Out of the Samsung and the Sony it's really a toss up in my opinion. They both offer excellent picture quality and are very reliable.

I would throw one other LCD into the mix though. Take a look at the new Mitsubishi LCD sets. They are very impressive. The LT-46244 produces some of the best black levels I've seen on any LCD to date.

Yes 4 years isn't that old. It is an intermittent issues where I have a vertical blue band through the set. It is not source sensitive. I hope that I can repair and repurpse this set to another room. I will look at th Toshiba as well.

One of the stores I was at had the Mitsu. I will revisit it.

I'M QUITE SURPRISED NO ONE HAS MENTIONED THE SHARP DISPLAYS..THE 82U & 92U ARE BOTH 120hz...THE HDMI 1.3 SPEC I'M NOT TO SURE ABOUT.

Brushro - thank you. I looked at the Sharp and it will not meet my space requirements.

Adam - I looked at the Toshiba and it will not meet my space requirements.

The Sammy and Mitsu meet the space needs (I am limited to 27.5 inches height). The Sony makes it as the dimensions behind the clear section is within this realm.
