Maybe I'm wrong, but I'd like your guys & gals opinion on this shipping/return issue...
I bought my girlfriend a small HDTV for christmas (for the kitchen or her office). It's a LCD HDTV with a built in DVD player. The DVD player died when it was 4 weeks old. Initial Tech (InitialDvd.com) has a 90 day warranty parts & labor, one year labor (with very high labor cost after the first 90 days says their customer service rep). Now when a product that's a month old dies, I expect the company to stand behind it better than this....They would not arrange a UPS pick up for it; they said either I pay to ship this item to them, or I can pay someone else to fix it. I pressed the issue of me having to pay for the shipping to get my 4 week old TV fixed, then they went on about the costs they have to encour to fix the TV and hopefully salvage part of it when they ship it to China.... My reply, This wouldn't have been a problem if the product was quality and didn't stop working 4 weeks after getting it! So they made me pay shipping back to them, which of course was not cheap! that's why I'm mad.
If this was a Sony LCD or Pioneer or somebody else, would I have to pay the shipping back to them to fix it if the product dies after a month?
Again maybe I'm wrong for thinking the customer service should be better, but for the amount of money the TV was, I do expect better.
If anyone has any thoughts, either agreeing or disagreeing, I'd like to hear them as I'd like to know if I'm over reacting or if this is poor customer service.
Thanks for reading.
