Hi I recently purchased the in InFocus X3 DLP Projector.

Problem - I connect my Laptops monitor output or AV output to projectors input. And connect my home theatre with my laptops speaker output.
My home theatre makes continous humming sound ... GRRRRRRRRRRRRR

I dont know what is the problem, it is not that devices are kept closer. They are all kept atleast 6-7 feet apart from each other but still it makes sound.

DId someone else experience same problem.

Is my projector faulty.

My home theatre works fine if I connect wihout Projector, It works great with DVD's and mp3 players.

But moment I switch on projector it starts humming.

Any ideas.

Please help

 :(

Spent abt ~800 USD to hear this

Any ideas are most welcome.

What input is connected to the projector? Cable TV by chance? If so, sounds like ground loop issues.

Re:

No Cable TV input to projector.

The Standard RCA. Which has 3 wires

1. Video
2. Audio Right
3. Audio Left.

Why do you have the audio going to the projector?
Is that just a composite video, one video cable? If you unplug that, no hum?
Try another video cable as a test. I still think you are getting some kind of ground loop.

If it is a Dell laptop then the issue is with the audio output from the PC. I have a Dell and this is a definite issue.

Keeping in mind that the built-in speakers on the X3 are a joke. Literally.

If this noise is not coming when you hook up a DVD player or other playback device, but ONLY occurs when you hook up your laptop, then that could be the cause of the noise.

I guess I'm not getting a clear picture of when and where you are hearing sound.

If you hear noise when the projector is on and the audio equipment is on, but nothing else is connected, then that noise goes away when the projector is turned off - that is definitely a power/ground loop issue.

If it is source specific, then it may be noise generated within that source.

Re:

Hey guys thanks a lot for your comments. I will tell you exactly what I did.

Laptop is SONY GRV680
Home Theatre is Bose , and another one SONY

Laptop has 2 outputs
1.) Headphone sort of 3 pin which converts into Video, Audio Right, Audio Left.
2.) Standard Monitor Out.

I tried using both.
I tried using just video components from point 1 above. Still same.

Another thing I tried. I switched of projector. Connected projector with both the ways described above, connected home theatre, Turned on volume of home theatre,
GGGGRRRRRRRRRR ( Same Hummmmmm )

Then I tried using another home theatre from SONY. Still same.

Laptop does not have power cable which earths.
Projector has a power cable which has earth socket.
Home theatres both dont have any earth socket.

Any help.
:(

Please help me get rid of this Hummm .. tooooooo irritating to watch movie with this hummm. It is not something which I can ignore. Its level is quite high. I cant hear dialogues many a times in movie coz of this.

Just as an experiment, not a solution, try a cheater plug on the projector to see if this is a ground loop issue. Available at local stores.
