Infocus 5700 - Component inputs not working

My Infocus 5700 suddenly stopped working on both rgb inputs. Both had been intermittently cutting out and after it did that a few times, it stopped, completely. The composite video still works. I had it apart, looking for anything obvious, but found nothing suspect. HELP!! I want my projector back. Thanks in advance!

What sources are you using? We are now passed the analog sunset. Programs can and are flagged to prevent analog output, and will only work with HDMI which your projector does not have.

If this problem is not due to DRM, then your unit has a serious fault. It is not worth fixing as it is out of date.

Your best option is to replace that projector and get one with HDMI inputs. Since we are passed the analog sunset, you need to do this anyway. Since composite works, I suspect DRM issues. Since Composite is low definition, it is allowed under the rules.

Basically the program producers don't want people to use component inputs, and outputs, and are doing everything possible to disable them.

This is almost never the case, and if it were the case would be limited to Blu-ray or certain pay-per-view on cable boxes. Otherwise, things like DVD players, or BD players still play almost all of their content just fine over component.

Worth saying (and asking) - Why not run HDMI to the projector and have you tested this connection at all? The projector has a HDCP compliant DVI input, which should be able to accept 720p and 1080i video over it. Run an HDMI cable between your sources and the projector and use a HDMI to DVI adapter and call it a day! Should work well and takes you into the 21st century.

Is there a way to run two HDMI's to the one DVI input without having to physically switch them every time I want to go from DVD to Satellite?

DRM is Digital Rights Management. It is all designed to prevent piracy.

Did you try what BMXTRIX suggested? If that did not work, then your unit needs repair, or better replacement. Just finding the problem will be expensive, let alone parts and labor. Honestly, it is not worth the cost for a unit that age. There is no simple fix you can do.

You cannot run two DVI cables without a switch, you can not combine digital signals.

Run a single HDMI cable, and use a HDMI switcher at your equipment location. Remote controlled HDMI switchers can be had for well under $50. Don't buy garbage ones, and don't use a junky cable, but at least for testing, you can pick up a cheap cable and HDMI to DVI adapter.

Unless you have one around already, do not use a HDMI to DVI cable.

Infocus "DVI" is actually their own connector (It's an M1-DA connector). I ordered an HDMI to M1-DA adaptor and it works with MOST of my satellite channels. It will not display any of the PPV channels, anything Disney (of course) and a few other random ones. I also hooked up a blu-ray to it and it doesn't display anything at all. I know this is an HDCP issue. Is there any way around it?? In a perfect world, I would buy a new projector. That is not an option; please don't suggest it.
Any help would be much appreciated!!

There is no way round your problem. I warned you about that at the beginning. Your options are to have your projector looked at, at a professional service center, or the option you refuse to consider.

I would not advise service. If funds a limited, I would just buy a TV and hang it on the wall.
