Infinity's Emit Tweeter

Hey everyone I love this fourm, think its great, but anyways...I am using some older Infinity Kappa 6.1 Series 2 speakers and think they are great, I love the Emit-R tweeter in them and was wondering what everyone here thought how they compared to newer tweeters like Infinity's C.M.M.D. tweeter and other tweeters from other companies. Also does anyone know why Infinity stopped using the Emit Tweeter?

That's a great question concerning the change from EMIT (to Polycell to C.M.M.D.) by Infinity. I'm sure there were other tweeters in the mix, too, that I'm unfamiliar with. I wonder if it had to do with Infinity's acquisition by JBL/HK. Didn't they occur around the same time?

I prefer the Emit K to all the other Infinity tweeters. But I also know that proper integration of ribbon tweeters with standard drivers is very difficult. Back in the late '60's when I drooled over Infinities, they were quite high-end, innovative speakers with wonderful cabinetry. Somehow, HK has turned the nameplate into an average speaker, at best.

Hang on to your vintage Kappa gems.
