Infinity SW-12 or Velodyne DPS 12?

Those are my only choices. I have credit at a store and decided to use it on a SW for the secondary system I use at my home office desk. Those are the 2 best SWs they have. I didn't particularly like the review of the DPS-10, so I'm hesitant to get the DPS-12.

It will only be used for 2 channel music and movies at my desk and will be used with a Denon PMA2000IVR, Pinnacle BD500 bookshelf speakers, Musical fidelity X-DAC v3, X-10v3 and PSU, Music Hall CD player and Technics SL1200GLD turntable.

I want the one that will be better for music and has a tighter, less boomy bass. It will only be used at moderately loud volumes.

Sleestack;

In the $500 and under category, you should consider the AV123 ULW-10 (review coming soon). It does a fine job for music and its auto setup feature is quite useful.

Thanks, but I'm really stuck with those 2 choices. I have to use the store credit and there really isn't anything else I want from the store.

It appears I can also get the Infinity CSW 10, however it doesn't have speaker line inputs and outputs. The Denon PMA2000IVR is a 2 channel integrated amp, and doesn't have bass mangement or a subwoofer out. I could use stereo line-level RCA jacks on the sub.

Would I be better off a) getting the CSW 10 and setting its crossover at the lower freq. of the Pinnacles, b) getting the CSW and setting its crossover at apoint that overlaps with the Pinnacles, or c) getting the SW 12 and using the speaker line inputs and outputs on the sub?

Sleestack;

Go with the Infinity given the two choices. I recommend connecting the sub speaker level in parallel with your main speakers and running them full range. Depending on the range of your Pinnacles (model#?), try setting your sub within 20-40Hz above its rated -3dB point.

Thanks. Just to confirm. You are recommending going with the CSW 10 and allowing the frequencies to overlap. That is, if the Pinnacles go down to 50, set the sw crossover to 80 or 90?

In your situation yes. Start at around 80Hz and work your way down if its too overpowering at the region they overlap. I suspect 50Hz extension is more like -10dB point of your pinnacles than -3dB especially when playing at high volume levels.

Thanks for the advice. My desk is really more for my headphone amps, but I wanted the speaker setup to at least be tolerable. Hopefully the Infinty works out.
