Infinity Speakers or NHT's

Hi all.......I'm building a new house and setting up an entry-level home theater in the family room. I need some input regarding speakers. I've already purchased a Yamaha 5790 (I went this way because I want to have multi zone / source capability) Likely I will do the wiring for a 7.1 system, but I'm only planning on installing speakers to run a 5.1 system....at least for now. The family room is fairly large (a little over about 24 x 20). I'm looking at the following speaker setups and need input / advice from people who know more about this stuff than I do!

Infinity Setup:
P160 bookshelfs
PC25 Center
CS60R in ceiling rear speakers
PS10 subwoofer
Total cost is about $700

NHT setup
SB2 bookshelf
SC2 center
IC3 in ceiling rear speakers
SW12 subwoofer
Total cost is about $1,200

Other than the obvious cost difference does anyone have any input/advice on either setup? The $1000 range is my general budget for speakers. If anyone has a better idea on speakers in this general price range I'd love to hear that as well.

Thanks!!

There are lots of options at that price range.

Polk, Axiom, Infinity, Klipsch, B&W all have something to offer in this price range. So do a lot of other companies. Pretty much A to Z.

Every body is got their fav's. I like Polks at this price range.

Infinity...I think better solutions for the money. I just sold a set of Infinity. My issue is from one year to the next the company seems to change is terms of what they are trying to produce..like a lost child. Aperion audio has a new compact theater system that are suppose to be just dynamite and if it anything like the reviews the Intimus series got I would not hesitate..cut out the middle man and pay for quality..there new package $799 with $150 free of monster speaker cable (Monster-thats another issue) Check out there web site and reviews..its hard to find a negative one. Axiom okay but there speakers seem to produce some unbearable highs and mid ranges (for me anyways) and others have complained about the same thing. Totem audio here in Canada have also been getting solid reviews.

Good luck!

NHT by a long shot. I've heard both and my interpretation is that Infinity has a sound (which you may love) and NHT doesn't. They just play the music without adding their own sound. That I like. Plus you may be able to find it on-line for a good discount....

I have owned a pair of SB2s for a while and absolutely loved them. I compared them to many many brands under $500 and they came out right on top (close call with Energy, but beat everyone else). They have a very musical and "non-noticeable" sound. They can disappear.

The infinitys are nice, but i can't say they disappear like the NHTs.

I've since built my own speakers and have SB2s around that i'd be willing to part with if you're interested at all.
