Need some advise-have a pair of these that need some work-about 100.00-do it or pick up something newer??
recommendation in the 5-600.00 floor standing range? as I obviously just shop for speakers every 25 years or so (ha, ha)

Wow. the Quantum line is from the mid 70's. I would go around and listen if possible, to what's available in floor standers in that price range before making any decisions. Polk audio, Klipsch, JBL, are just a few of the manufacturers that have floor standers in the 5-600 price range you're looking for.

You can also find some Boston Acoustic VR3's floating around online for under that range since they stopped making them and I love them.
