Sorry for posting this again here...but i think it actually belongs in the speaker's section:

Aloha to all....

This is my first post here...so go easy on me...I'm still taking my vey FIRST steps in the world of A/V

I have just purchased a Yamaha RX-V540 reciever for my living room (newly married!!) and was hoping to pair it with a good set of speakers... Its about 20ft x 15ft

Here are my options:
1- Bose acoustimass 6...didnt like how they sounded

2- JBL SCS178....nice..

http://international.jbl.com/home/products/product_detail.asp?ProdId=SCS178/230&SerId=SCS&language=ENGLISH

3- Infinity Primus HCS....nice....

http://international.infinitysystems.com/homeaudio/products/category/primushcs_series.asp?language=ENGLISH

My mind is almost set on the JBL set...however there is one difference i noticed...the nominal impedence on the JBLs is 4ohm and on the Infinity is 8ohms....

i read somewhere on these forums that the LOWER the impedence the BETTER the speaker?? true??

Secondly...does the Yamaha RX-V540 support either the 8 or 4 ohm impedence??

P.S. Please do not suggest ANY other speaker brands...I know there are some really much better brands...but these are the ONLY brands I have where I live...

And in case anyone tells me it all depends on how i like the speakers and how they sound...well...it would very much help to get some expert listeners' opinion...

Thanks!!

The Infinity Primus is has the better engineered drivers and more linear response. The sub in the HTS is also the more accurate of the two.

With the JBL system you're paying more for cosmetics at the expense of performance vs. the Primus.

Yes. The suggested retail prices (SRP) ARE about $100 apart specifically for this reason. Performance parts cost more and usually come in a plain ole box which usually works much better than thin plastic enclosures anyway.

Thanks for the response man..I'll go out first thing in the morning and buy them...

BTW...my Yamaha RX-V540 is a 6.1 system...can i add an extra speaker in the future for rear center??
what make do u suggest?
....and what if i wanted to add another 2 speakers on the side...like 8.1? is that possible...

sorry for all the silly questions...
