Infinity Interlude 100S

Newbie here. Kinda obvious since this is my first post.

I've owned an IL100S for several years now and just the other day it stopped working. I tested the power cord and it works fine. But the speaker is not getting any power (the little red/green light/dial is no longer lit up).

I'm guessing I need a new power supply. The same thing happened 5 years ago and I took it to a 'authorized' dealer. 4 weeks later and $80 less in my account, I finally got it back.

I started to unscrew the back panel, only to find that EVERYTHING is enclosed in a plastic box. I started to unscrew the several hundred screws but stopped. There are several different size screws, some of which hold the 'box' together and some that hold the various switches to the front plate.

Does anyone know which screws to unscrew? Can I just start unscrewing? The speaker doesn't work as it is now so how much worse can I make it? :D

I'm hoping that the power supply is easily replaceable. That is, if I can find a replacement part. So far, my google-ing has had zero results.

I really don't want to pay $15 bucks for a schematic/service manual.

How deep have I gotten myself into?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

p.s. I did try searching the forum prior to this question but came up with zero results for both IL100S and Infinity.

Thanks in advance,
Max

Welcome to the forum, Max!

I don't have any info for you, but I noticed that it had been a while since you posted, and I wanted to welcome you and bump this thread so that maybe someone more useful than me would see it. :)

Some pictures would help. Have you called infinity tech support or parts? I think you have a post up on the Klipsch site so ya got that going for ya. Of course you can just start unscrewing! At this point you have nothing to lose as the unit is not under warranty, and you don't want to take it in so pay attention to the screws, maybe try labelling some envelopes or color coding or some way to keep track.

I took the leap and started unscrewing all the screws. I come to find out that apart from the 10 or so screws that hold the panel to the sub, only two small screws hold the unit together.

I tested the current (by tested I mean a placed a volt meter at various places along what I think would be the path of the current). I have power from the ac cord to the fuse. Good so far. I have power from the fuse to the circular shaped copper coil thingy. When I test for current at the red and black wires that lead from the BASH 1011 unit to the one above it, I get no reading.

I 'found' a service manual online and according to it, a common problem with the IL100S is the RCOO82 part going bad. It says to test the circuit 'in-line'. Not sure what that means.

Here is what the service manual says.
Locate R22 in the power supply section, as shown below.
If value of R22 is not 100k ohms 5%, then replace R22 with a 1/2 Watt 100k ohm 5%, resistor.

How hard is it to replace the R22 with a 1/2 watt 100k ohm resistor? Are those resistors easy to find?

Did I mention I'm a newb at this? :D
