Nice link Zeke.

And if you mean dayton as in dayton audio from parts express, you'll spend a heck of alot more, (btw, I live about 10 mins from it)

I personally have built my own, and that sub, they may just have used a cheap driver. Knowing parts express ( And I do know them , literally) your just paying for the enclosure and amp.

I built my sub out of this: Sry, no link, audioholics must not like parts express. But its their 10" reference woofer.

MDF, beechwood veneered and with thier 100w amp (75 @ 8 ohms)

It's finely tuned and sounds perfect for my needs, cost me about 100$.

It is WAY cool to be 14 and own a system like you're trying to set up! Good show, Zeke.

Kinda sucks, when your 18, and you need money for things like gas, and school.

Your lucky Zeke.

I just have a sub, no bookshelfs yet, so I just use my headphones.

Id reccomend you get an already built sub, I've built about 20 sub boxes, so I know what I'm doing ( I think!).

You would be better off getting 5 Primus 150s then the setup you were looking at. They're a more accurate speaker.

I have not heard these speakers in a long time, and of course it was at CC so you can't really *hear them* anyway, but WmAx says the Primus line could use some internal damping but thats an easy enough upgrade project perfect for the buget minded hobbist.(something to look forward is always good!)

From what I read on this fourm Five of the Primus 150's sounds like they would be a nice first or second setup. Front ported too. That will be nice for bedrooms so you can place close or on the walls.

I believe Sheep and SBF1 are correct...that this would be a better setup than using 4+ cc. It's cheaper, too.

By purchasing the Primus speakers, you probably also have a way to easily upgrade in the future if you so desire. The speakers would probably benefit greatly from some simple modifications, such as putting in a good internal acoustic damping material(the Primus 160 I checked had nearly worthless internal damping material) and some mass-loaded damping for the walls, such as Peel N' Seal or Dynamat. The end result would be substantially 'fuller/coherent' sound, a perceived comment I hear from people when a reasonable damped box is compared to a resonant one.
