We are actually very interested in receiving products from Infinity. We've heard good things about their high-end products.

If you liked the Yamaha, then save your money and go for them as speaker selection is the most critical aspect of your system, this is a choice which will make or break your system.

Look at it this way, the speakers will stay with you even though you might upgrade your receiver and CD/DVD player in the future.

just a thought. I recently did some listening at my local store in an A/B type comparison. I am new at this so it was difficult. But I listened to speakers in the $1000 range. Kef, Klispch, definitive tech 2006TL, and infinity alphas were in the line up. None really did it for me. I also had a demo pair of Paradign studio 40s that a dealer had lent me which I brought into the mix after listening to all the other. I immediately noticed details with the intstruments that I did not notice before with all the others. WOW. But the voice seemed subdued compared to the others. Was it the recording, I do not know. Bottom line none really did it for me.

I took the Paradigns home and compared with my old 1980s Design Acoustic speaker and the Paradigns did sound much better as one would expect.

HERE is the Kicker. The next day I borrowed the B&W DM603 s3 and did an A/B comparison with the paradigns. The B&Ws were awsome.

My two cents before all else find yourself a highend audio store and listen to some B&Ws. The DM603 s3 can be had for 1000 MSRP. You can talk your way into $900 as I have done.
It seems the highend dealers are pretty cool and tend to let one borrow the demo speakers for a day.

Oh, I forgot. The Infinity Alphas (which ever one 40 or 60) that retails for around a grand was clearly the dullest sounding relative to all the others in my A/B comparisons at Ultimate Electronics.
Seemed strange, but that is how I heard it.

I have two observations to add. 1) Ultimate has some good products, good prices, and awesome customer support-BUT, I can't think of a worse setup to audition speakers. 2) Many of the other speakers they sell are very bright sounding. In comparison, an accurate speaker may sound a bit 'dull'.

I'm not saying the Alphas are better than the others, just that I've never been impressed by the sound of any speaker in 'the big room' at Ultimate (and here I'm also assuming that the Ultimate stores in your areas resemble the one where I live).

Their Oveture series was the bomb!!!!

I remeber a pair that were bookshelfs in a d'appolito, with a built in 8 in sub and 150w RMS amp.

they were sweet. i like the alpha series, much better than the entra series.
