Inexpensive BD Player

I am looking for an inexpensive Blu Ray player to "get me by" until the 3D-BD/streaming/DLNA players come down in price a bit. At that point, I can bring my cheapy player to my bedroom.

Anyone have suggestions? I found Tigerdirect has a Magnavox for $69 but it is refurbished. I basically just want something that will play my Blu Rays and upconvert DVDs.

Thanks

I doubt you are going to find anything cheaper. If you can wait until the upcoming holiday, I would expect to find some deals on new players. Since it is temporary, just go for that one.

Tiger Direct has a Samsung 1590 for $97 new and some similar refurbs (Sharp, Samsung).

If you get Panny , you better hope you don't have problems because their Customer Service sucks.

Good Luck!

P.S. - Is 3D really that great and how long before there are a substantial number of BDs to take advantage of it? Will HDMI 1.4 change yet again and screw up the early innovator 3D?

The players that I've had from them have held up well so far, and for what they are going for, it would probably be almost as much to buy another one than get one repaired unless it was still under full warranty. Sucks to hear that their CS isn't good though.

IMO, there won't actually be any good discs out soon. There will probably only be a handful by the end of the year.

I don't really have a "vision" on 3D, just would like things to be compatible just in case.

I ended up splurging and picking up a Sony BX-57 (rebranded S570) at Costco. $199 for Blu Ray and DVD upscaling, streaming Bravia apps and future 3D/DLNA support. I was able to replace my HTPC (since I only used it for Netflix and Blu Ray).

I've watched a BD and DVD on it and both look great. Really happy with it.
