Does anyone have a good source for non-exotic 12 guage power cord >9 feet in length in $10-$30 range?

Home depot carries 12ga speaker wire for about $0.31/ft. This is what a lot of guys use here.

Sorry I was in la la land there. It's been a rough morning.

Parts express has some, so does Digi Key.

Home Depot should also have 12 ga power cords.
What do you need it for?

Thanks for help all. I didn't have much luck on the above websites. I will try Loews's and Home Depot though I could not find anything on their website.

Mtrycrafts--I don't KNOW that I need it. I have two twenty amp circuits and my ideal placement for my Bryston amp is about 12 feet from the outlet. I had seen this gauge suggested for 20 amp circuits.

Oh, ok. Why not just get a short 12 ga extension cord. Nothing wrong with using one to get the distance you need. Won't degrade anything.

By the way, just because the wall outlet is rated to 20A doesn't mean you need 12 ga extension cord ;) But, it will be good non the less.

Hey, what Bryston amp do you have? Not many people own one of those beasts on these boards...

Do you already have the 20 amp receptacles installed? If you do you will notice they look a bit different (if code was followed) from 15 amp circuits (normal household receptacle) and will require a special receptacle and plug. It is really easy to make a cord and Home Depot or Lowes will have everything you need. Just go to the electrical dept. and hunt it down.

The idea about using an extension cord (Mtrycrafts) is a good one. I had seen one but just in general (looks) would prefer one cord since it won't be concealed well.

Jaxvon, its the 6bsst. Aside from being pleased with it sonically, I really like how the Bryston units hold there value in part due to their 20 year fully transferable warranty. I put the 20 amp circuit in for peace of mind since the Bryston can draw a lot of watts "3 channels @ 500W @ 4 ohms - 3450 Watts". Even though the room is large and treated I'm sure I will never drive my speakers to that level.

MBauer, yes I have seen that 20 amp circuits (by code) should have different receptacles. Mine don't. Maybe the electrician thought he was helping me? I assume he would know this.

Thanks for the help everyone!

So Mtry, you have a Bryston? If it's true, then that's mighty ironic...

Actuall, kitchens must have 20A circuits but you can still install the 15 A receptacals. The circuit is 20A so you can use multiple higher load small applianceson one or several receptacles without blowing the braker. You also need on in the family room.

That 20A special receptacle is to attach an appliance that demands such power all by itself, then the hot blade is at 90 deg to the Neutral blade.

If the plug on the Bryston is a regular 15A plug, not an issue. A 12ga power cord over longer distance will have a smaller votage drop, more power to the amp.
