As I am moving my HT to an addition that I am building on my house, I will be putting the wires in the walls.

My plan is it install a bank of banana jacks on the wall behind my HT rack and then use the same jacks around the room at my speaker locations. Is this an acceptable method of speaker distribution?

These are what I have purchased.

EDIT - WTF how many posts I need to post a link?

Anyway ... you know what they are ... banana jacks from parts express, the ones that pop in to a wall plate.

If that link is from parts express, they do not show up here. Just give us the part # and say its from Parts Express
EDIT:: You can do links, just not to them. Don't ask me why....
I bet you could link straight to Axiom.... J/K...

Part Number 091-1206 - yes parts express

These are not the exact ones that I have, but the same idea. I was just going to run my cables to a junction box and install the plate over the box. I think this will look nicer then just having a wire hang out of my wall.

You may also want to ask RLA or BMXTRIX, since they do a lot of installations. Where they get their stuff.

Yeah those are fine. There is a guy on eBay that sells a whole kit for 5, 6, or 7 speaker set ups. That you may want to look at. The kit will have all the wall plates and connectors for your main junction box and each surround speaker..
I'll find the link if you want..
Something like this. But I have seen it cheaper.... From another guy, I'll look around.

Not a bad deal. But I already have all the stuff I need to do it. As well as RCAs for the sub and Coax for the Cable lines.

I was considering doing another digital-coax near my bar so I can just drop my laptop and plug it in the wall when I want to use iTunes with the system.

Thanks for the reply though. Anyone else have an opinion? Any reason not to do it this way?

That's the way I do it. One of the things I missed though:

Your subwoofer doesn't use a speaker wire connection (typically) since it has a built in amp and is fed via RCA connection. I ran the RG-6 for the subwoofer, but I didn't double check that POWER was next to the sub. The closest power is several feet away. If possible, use a double gang box with a low voltage separator and run the RG-6 to one side of the box, and power for your sub to the other side of the box.

Did that at a neighbors home and it looks great.

I used wall plates for all my Speaker, Phone, and Ethernet connections throughout my home. It works well, everything is labelled, and it will be easy for me to uninstall everything else when I move.

Yep, good idea. I didnt think of power either. I would have run in to the same issue. Thanks!

It's actually simple to understand - they were posting so many links on our forums (many via an employee of theirs) it was like we were providing an ad vehicle for their company. When we approached them to contribute even a small amount to the site via advertising they cried poor and as a result we disallowed links. We can't charge our advertisers for things and then allow others to do the same things for free.

I hope our members understand. Axiom, even though they do advertise, doesn't come here and post links all over our forums - even when people ask about their products specifically. There is a place and venue for that and they have a bit more etiquette.

I don't blame you!
I like Parts Express and have had good service through them, but I'm sure all members would say, we don't come to this forum to get a pitch from some "sales hole". Just good advice on what to do, some good deals that are available and maybe some recommedations on what we should purchase.

Oh, and I did buy my speaker binding posts and plates from Parts Express.
