In-wall vs Floor standing and getting the most out of Yamaha RX-A3050

I am in the process of remodeling my 1st floor and have opportunity to rewire and open up walls, asking for help on speakers and layout.

I bought the Yamaha RX-A350 9.2 Chanel receiver to be the brains of the system and can be hidden in a closet or basement.

Have 2 rooms with television and 4 rooms (total) with music.
  1. (zone 1)Family Room – 25’ * 14’, 65” tv, subwoofer, center and in-wall speakers
  2. (zone 2) Home Office – 14’ * 14’, 45” tv and 2 in-wall speakers or sound bar
  3. (zone 3) Dining Room – 14’ * 12’, 1 or 2 in ceiling or wall speakers
  4. (zone 3) Kitchen – 16’ * 12’ 1 or 2 in ceiling or wall speaker
Would like a Zone 4 for outside but understand might require Elan4 or Sonos that is out of the budget.

I bought the following speakers that I am second guessing might be too much and thinking about taking back and getting all in-wall.
Function Model Service
Subwoofer, R-112SW Klipsch 12" Black Powered Subwoofer
Front Speaker (2), RP280FABK Klipsch Black Wood Veneer Dolby Atmos Enabled Floorstanding Speaker
Center, RP450CABK Klipsch Black Wood Veneer Center Speaker
Rear (2), R-5800-W II Klipsch W II White In-Wall Speaker
Receiver, RX-A3050 Yamaha AVENTAGE 9.2 Channel Black 4K Network

If I return the following speakers I will have a $3,500 budget to get new speakers and one potential sound bar.

I was wondering if a member could give me a suggestion on hardware and if I am configuring the Zones correctly for the receiver.

Hi!

For that kind of money I'd look at Emptek, SVS or Aperion for speakers. One of their packages would blow those out of the water! That's the kind of budget that for surround sound, the best can only be delivered by the Internet Direct companies, or DIY. So trust in them!

In walls are always a compromise, so keep that in mind!

check out this recent thread with some useful info on someone with a similar situation:

http://forums.audioholics.com/forums/threads/seeking-system-ideas-for-multi-zone-audio-1-video-zone-older-home.97509/

If you already have a A3050 then I would look into MusicCast as this may allow you to feed those zones assuming you have external amplifiers attached to your AVR Zone outs. Also may give you an option to extend your setup with additional entry level AVR's or a Yamaha MusicCast soundbar.

Also do the research into the multi zone options and limitations of that receiver as there a few good and bad points. Zone2 out does everything but Zone3 does not pass HDMI audio sources so your HDMI external sources need analog or SPDIF inputs attached as well as HDMI to feed this third zone. There is also a Zone4 but it is limited to HDMI audio/video pass-through only so only external HDMI sources are usable.

If you already have the receiver then I would recommend you connect up for some initial testing with 1-2 speakers connected to Front speaker out and another 1-2 sepeakers connected to powered Zone2 and Zone3 out. Have to set the amp assignment mode to 5.1+2zones. You can then connect up some sources and see how easy it is to control and listen across zones. connect it to your local network and Install the AV Controller app for iOS/Android and try out controlling the zones with this. Also install MusicCast app and see what it can do for you.

And finally look into better options than using bouncy castle speakers for dolby atmos if possible. In ceiling speakers may be a better option to look into.

Latent, thank you so much for the update and link to the other post. I spent the last couple hours trying to digest the information on the other post. Can't believe the amount of information provided & links to MusicCast. I am going to purchase the RXV679BL but have additional questions that I am going to post on the other thread because armatures looking to use MusicCast should read.
