I am somewhat of a newbie to home theater and recently bought an in wall surroun sound system including an in wall 10" sub. My problem is this. My sub has speaker wire connections, but my sony receiver does not have sub speaker wire connections. It has a plug type connection for a sub, but not for speaker wires. Anyone know how I would go about hooking my sub to my receiver. Please keep your explanation in laymen terms so I can understand. Thanks in advance.

Hello,

Is the sub passive (does not have its own intrnal amplifier) or powered (has its own internal amplifier. If it is passive, you will need an amplifier to connect the sub and receiver to. If it is powered ( it should have multiple line inputs) you would run the front speaker wires to the sub and then on to the speakers; in this way the crossover would be determined solely by the sub's settings and anything below the set crossover would go to the sub and above would go to the front speakers.
