I am new to the Hometheatre scene and recently purchased a HK 325 receiver, HK DVD 25 and now require speakers. I am currently using a set of 5 Sony cube speakers but they do not do justice. I am interested in in-wall speakers and would appreciate any suggestions/advice?

I have limited experience here, but I did my whole house audio myself with alot of help from people at Hometech (hometech.com. They don't carry the very high end stuff, so I am not sure if what they have in flush mounted speakers will be what you're looking for, but worth a look.

From my experience and depending on your budget stay away from the cubes!
Like you mentioned they don't do justice to your system, not that the HK325 can really due justice to higher end speakers. I personally have a set of NILES HD8R FG00886 in walls, not badly priced but compared to the RBH 61-LSE they lack.
You have a good start to your system but probably could have done a bit better if you did your homework and comparison shop. Learned personally from my mistake with the HK DVD25, features lacking and a bit overpriced.
Good luck!

Okay...so I've got a killer system..You sound like the type of guy that can only have the best. So with that I make this suggestion.

JBL speakers...Get the system I have here.. For you and me it's simply the best. No wall mounts here!!!]

It's the JBL SYNSTHESIS ULTRA...This may set you back a bit buts it's well worth it. Your famliy will love it!!

Awesome for watching Euro soccer games on!!

GO ITALIA!!!!

What do you mean "HK325 cannot do justice to higher end speakers" ?? I admit I am a newbie but I havent read anything bad about any of the HK receivers. This reciever retails for $1499 Cnd + 15% tax I paid $1G with tax. I agree the HK DVD does lack a few features like jpegs...etc.. however I also got a wicked deal on this item (at least I think so)it retails for $599 and I got it for about $100. I also bought a samsung dvd P421 and not sure If i will keep it and return the hk dvd as I can get a credit note for $500. At least if all the formats change I wont be out as much and can buy a DVD once all the dust settles over this sacd etc... formats.. Actually what I really would like is a dvd with a harddrive all inone.
I have recent suscribed to Sound and vision and noticed a few adds re: niles speakers, What do your niles FG00886 speakers go for (CND$) and what about the RBH 61 LSE.
Thanks again for the advice.

Sorry, my intention in the first post was not to put down the HK325. I'm just saying in my opinion depending on how long you hold onto your components to purchase your components with the same range of 'quality'. Generally the weakest link in the components will be the bottleneck to your enjoyment. I mean not to purchase one component thats high end and another thats mid grade, you will not get the full enjoyment out of the high end component. If your thinking about upgrading the low end component in the near future it might be worth the purchase. The HK325 is a middle of the road product and you should be looking at middle of the road speakers.
I am also from Canada and work for a company which is also an electronics distributor. I am really suprised by the HK DVD retailing for 100$, I don't want to call it BS but something doesn't sound legit.
I would go with the credit note!

As for the HK 325, not a bad price if its 2003. If its an 02 or 01 inventory the companies can write these items off as depreciated inventory and still make a buck! Thats why we have boxing day, its never a deal, watch out for those chain stores. Older ones can retail at 840$cdn 1yr old, 650$ 2yr old.
Sound and Vision, great start, excellent to learn! I am not an expert but I am still skeptical about a mags that do write ups on one of its advertisers.
As for the FG00886s I believe they are now around the 700$ range but the FG00721 (? not sure of the exact model) might be more fitting for your HK325. I am really happy with the NILES but I would look at other brands Try, Compare and Keep or Return.( its really hard with in walls
)

Best of luck!
