I'm helping a friend out with his new basement ht setup. He is committed to in-wall speakers for his fronts (I tried but couldn't talk him out of it). Any suggestions for quality in-wall speakers? Or is he better off just buying the standard Infinti speakers at BBuy and sinking more money into the best sub he can find?

thanks!

There are some in-walls that look like they might not be so bad, but they are pricey. Triad, Klipsch THX, Atlantic Technology. If he isn't out to spend $500 per speaker, maybe some Hsu HIW in wall speaker might not be all bad. Infinity in walls probably aren't terrible either.

I like the jamo built ins for HT. A friend of mine wante dbuilt ins he ended up going with a small bookshelf and some custom shelfs, worksed out well.. There are better options out there for less money and labor..

Look at Triad, monitor audio, Niles, Martin Logan, Artisan etc. There are several good solutions for in wall.

I generally prefer sealed inwalls. Monitor Audio, Speakercraft, and Axiom offer some sealed models for folks on budget.

Believe me, I've tried talking him into bookshelves. Even tried some on-wall options, but he's locked in. I'll take a look at some of the ones you mentioned - esp the sealed versions. Thanks.

What is your friends budget? how big is his room? I listened to 6 or 7 in wall speakers, and got hooked on the RBH sound. I am currently saving for 3x 6100 R...but they retail for $3k/each, found for $2k online. They also have cheaper models. RBH Signature Reference In-wall Speakers I have some big rooms (4500, and 8000 ft^3), so need a little more speaker to fill it properly. It's at least worth listening to.
