New to site and just starting research for our "theatre" room. Notice how "theatre" is in quotes. Not a dedicated theatre room but will be our movie room, family room, entertainment room. Dimensions are 20 deep' x16' from left to right with staircase on right side and patio on left side and multiple openings to the rear into kitchen and dining room.
Front wall is 16' long and ceilings are 10' high.
80% HT and 20% Music listening.
Was going to go with Floor speakers but wife is not liking idea of multiple speakers and now going with a CLEAN look. I fully understand Floor Speakers and IN wall type are night and day with sound and understand compromises. We have considered Hang on wall speakers BUT most likely looking at IN WALL installation.
NEW "theatre" room:
80" Vizio, Onkyo TX-SR607 receiver, Oppo BDP83 BluRay player, Velodyne DLS 10" powered sub.
Researched various models and Martin Logan, Bowers & Wilkins, Paradigm are just too expensive.
Goal is 5.1 and will consider 2 ceiling speakers to make 7.1.
WOULD LIKE TO SPEND $500-700 PER SPEAKER
1. Considering having 3 front and 2 rear, in wall ALL 5 speakers being same brand and model. This overkill??
2. Anyone know much about the Totem Tribe or Triad in wall speakers?
3. Preferred order would be:
a. KEF Ci4100 RL, coming out in August to US
b. Klipsch KL-6504 THX, worth the extra cost for THX?
c. Klipsch R-5502-W II
d. PSB W-LCR2 pretty expensive
e. Definitive Technologies UIW RLS II series.... get most bang for buck
4. Is having THX certified WORTH the extra cost?
Problem I have is when I go to audio stores, the acoustics are so different then may setup so almost any speaker is going to sound GOOD in THEIR environment.
Sorry for long thread. ANY advice on above would be much appreciated or if anyone needs more info OR can point out other brands...let me know! MAY be able to do floor speakers but not looking good.
