In-wall/on-wall center question?

Up until yesterday I was seriously considering using ArtCoustic onwall fronts (and a center) based on a very limited listening experience and a overriding request (dare I say command ) from my wife that the speakers be "unnoticeable" for a new ht set up in our living room.

After talking w/a dealer, he recommended going a different way (he's sold all of 1 pair of the ArtCoustics in 2 years - and he said they kind of "fatigued" your listening experience over time). I listened to them again, and they are kind of harsh in their sound.

I'm now looking at in-walls that I can use for the LR - and I like what I've heard listening to the Triads (like their surrounds as well).

Here's the issue: the Triad line doesn't have a matched Center that is the right form factor (need long and thin to go under the plasma).

So the question is:
Anyone have a recommendation for either an on-wall or in-wall (preferred) Center that I can match w/the Triads? Needs to be as inconspicuous as possible...

Price: willing to spend up to $1K for the right Center...

In-wall speakers

Triad makes some of the best in-wall speakers, so you are on the right track. You will definately want a matching center channel is you are spending that kind of money. Check out the In-Ceiling and On-Wall center channel speakers that match the mains.

The Triad LCRs can be set horizontally for the center, but the length is prohibitive for 16” stud bays. If your plasma is centered on a stud, you could also use two Triad Minimonitors in parallel. I understand your desire for in-wall multi-polar surrounds but there aren’t too many options available. Some speaker brands that come to mind are B&W, Sonance, Def Tech, and Klipsch, that you might also consider. They do have good options for the center channel.

I believe that for a nominal fee, you can get Triad to build their speakers in a custom size. Triad also makes the mini-lcr 3.0 which has the proper form factor, but incorporates all 3 front speakers. I haven't heard it, so can't comment on it's sound, but should be consistent with the Triad sound.

I am curious you need a long and narrow speaker is you are using in-walls.
