In wall / in ceiling speaker conflict...

I have a Onkyo TX8555 receiver in each master bathroom, master bedroom and to control speakers for dining room and kitchen. I'm connecting a TV and iPod to each.

My question is what in ceiling or in-wall speakers would work best w/o having to get a center channel and a subwoofer?

I tried mono price, but next to my simple sony stand up speaker that is about 10 years old, they sounded very "tinty."

Any suggestions? I'm open to ideas too, but don't want to get too costly.

I would need 2 speaker in master bedroom, 2 in master bath, and 5 between the dining room & kitchen.

Any/all suggestions welcome. I don't want to get too costly on this, as I don't have an ear for the crispness something like Klipsch would deliver....

Take a look at NHT. They are going out of business (sort of) and have decent speakers. I have a pair of iC3's in the ceiling as surrounds and like them alot. You should be able to find something being cleared out.

I have audiosource 6.5" series. AS6S, I have it setup in a 7.1 environment. They are inexpensive and do the job nicely.. I can't post a link yet... but amazon has them for $59.99 for the pair.

That's the thing... I will be using these as a good "main" speaker set, maybe with a powered 10" woofer, but nothing similar to a 7.1 setup...
