Greetings ladies and gentlemen this is my first post, but will not be my last.

I am not what you would call an audiophile, but have some interest in music. I currently DJ and mix for fun and love to listen to some great tracks.

So what am i looking for? Well my needs are something that is meant for EDM (Electronic Dance Music) and Rock'n'Roll!!! These will be used to entertain an indoor party or even outdoor. I should say 30 to 50 maybe?

So far, i have found a few options and all of these are 2nd hand. I have absolutly no interest shelling out 1 to 2 grands on PA's... YET!

My options:

- Yorkville E404 / 400$ (the pair) *behringer A500* / 200$
- EV Model 2-200 with Yorkville amplifier Model MP 8 / 800$ (the pair)
- EV S-200 / 500$ (the pair)
- PEAVY PROSYS / 450$ (the pair)
- PEAVEY 1210 / 300$ (the pair)

Obviously one of these are active, but my options are still wide.

The real thing i'm looking for is a PA system that's really worth my bucks.

I think speakers from cerwin vega will help if you're gonna be working with electronic dance music.

What ever you do don't buy Peeves. I have had so many functions ruined by DJs and bands turning up with their speakers.

They are so horrible, I think they must have a big research program to make them so bad. They are worse then they possible could be leaving everything to chance!

After an evening of Peevey speakers boring a whole in my head, I wrote to them. Their only defense was that they were popular!

Ahhh Craperoo! I just missed that bid...

Anyhow, I finally got the idea not to be cheap on speakers, but will not go all out.

I will be needing a PA system that is preferably active. Since my mind has change about not purchasing Subs, i guess now is the time to say that i want a PA that would handle well with the Mid and highs.

Thanks

Budget is no less that 1 grand.

Well I plan on using a CX2310. Which is around 60 bucks. Can't beat that on a budget. Paired with an A500.

I think in your budget, I would rent for a while. So many places rent decent gear for cheap now, I think you'd be better off renting stuff for a while until you have enough money to buy gear that will last you longer and perform better.

What kind of EDM are you talking about? Funky house? Dubstep? DnB? Electro? Techno? Trance?

In front of how many people?

I play dubstep and I used to have a pretty big portable rig with some friends for doing raves, and now I play at clubs mostly, but I have a small mobile system for playing at small parties....

2x Danley Sound Labs SH-Minis
-Powered by one Crest CC1800
2x Danley Sound Labs CS-30 Subwoofers
-Powered by one Crest CC2800
dbX DriveRack PA
(plus my technics 1200s and vestax mixer)

I can do a household size room and really make an impact with this little system, and everything fits in one trip in my SUV, even with my vinyl and decks. Sounds better than most hifi systems too.

You wouldn't recommend the Yorkville? I hear it's performance is incredible. I also know that if you do not abuse the speakers it can last you a life time. (Exageration) :D

I say go for it. You only live once and most folks have no standards for fidelity anyway.

If it doesn't work out you would have a nice home system. :)

I thank you for your comment (literally "thanked"). I pretty much have a decision going on here.
