A little back ground I have played around with car audio and video for about 15 years and had my fair share of stereo set ups. so my last surround sound system is about 16 years old from circuit city its a 5.1 kenwood and it has done it job well over the years but now its time to upgrade. so here is where i need help i have best buy and hhgregg and one very high-end place near by and for the money I want to spend Im very iffy of ordering of the web. The brand I would like to get is klispch now my fear/question is working with $2,000 is this set up worth the money or can i do better?
they are on the best buy site
Klipsch Reference Floorstanding Speakers (2), Bookshelf Speakers (2), Center-Channel & Subwoofer Package
  • SKU: 9999253500050000
Pioneer Elite - 700W 5.2-Ch. 4K Ultra HD and 3D Pass-Through A/V Home Theater Receiver - Black
  • Model: VSX-45-K
  • SKU: 3549015
The room is 12ft wide by 22ft deep, the reason I picked that receiver is good power and option of 2nd sub, plus the a/b speakers. It will be for gaming, movies and some music so fire away with suggestions and or questions.

Imo you could do much better than that ordering online: Elac 2 pair of B5 plus c5 center = subtotal for 5.- = 640.
Like new Denon X2100W from Electronic Expo (Authorized Denon = full 3 year warranty)
http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B00KLC5YPS/ref=sr_1_1_olp?ie=UTF8&qid=1446594216&sr=8-1&keywords=x2100w&condition=used
$400
This leaves with you with about $1000 for sub, since your room isn't huge I think sealed 15" sub should do the trick while not being too bulky:
few great options:
http://www.hsuresearch.com/products/uls-15mk2.html
https://reaction-audio.myshopify.com/collections/subwoofers/products/gamma-15?variant=1107629493
http://www.powersoundaudio.com/collections/subwoofers/products/s1500

can't really go wrong with ether option, but my heart would lie with HSU option.

You could get a matching and very advanced http://www.amazon.com/S12EQ-Powered-Subwoofer-Andrew-AutoEQ/dp/B014GSEUJ8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1446594640&sr=8-1&keywords=elac+S12EQ
but it just won't have the raw powah of bigger brothers I'd mention above, but in small room will be probably more than enough.

I said online so people could look at them I can get them in store pick up so no shipping. I have had things with lower cost show up in sad shape that's why I would like to stay away from online ordering. The kenwood set has a 6 inch powered sub and that's good in the room I could go a little bigger, I think a 15 would be overkill due to the size of the room. that receiver you posted has lots of power but its a 7.2 also, this is why i wish i had more local places to shop for you can get everything under the sun online but then shipping hopping it shows in good shape. But yes they are some good choices that you posted.

Elac available on Amazon with free shipping and an amazing return policy...
Klipsch has unique sound to them, which some people like, but most find it too bright and fatiguing after long period listening...

Before buying Klipsch triple check that you absolutely love their sound. They were ok, but after Voxx (aka Audiovox) bought them - all bets are off.

Here are some of the brands Voxx responsible of killing their quality and reputation: Jamo, Jensen, Acoustic Research, Energy (it came from Klipsch purchase)

6 inch sub won't deliver deep bass like 15 or even 12 inch will. You don't need to crank it all the way up, you should balance it with your selected speakers and match the volume for your room. :)

fyi: For only $50 - this http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B00KONGJOO/ref=olp_tab_used?ie=UTF8&condition=used
Get one sold by amazon warehouse - same deal as above, but extra $50 gets you pre-outs and Audyssey’s Gold suite. Trust me it's worth it.
btw: Buying B&M is very overestimated, it many cases I got better customer service from amazon (correction ALWAYS) then from any brink and mortar store.
If you feel that sealed 15" is too much for your room,at least get Elac 12 EQ sub - you won't regret it. Andrew Jones knows how to make a killer speakers..
In fact whatever you buy - DO NOT BUY a SUB from Klipsch, even at 50% off

I agree with BSA about NOT getting a subwoofer from Klipsch. I've always gotten the feeling their subwoofers were an afterthought.

"Oh yeah, that's right, we should have a subwoofer or two that looks like the rest of our speakers."

Go out and listen to lots of speakers. That's important. Go visit the super high end audio store, you might be surprised and find they have something you'll really like within your budget. Don't mention they you're thinking of buying from Best Buy or online they'll just shun you for it.

Give some serious consideration in at least making your subwoofer purchase online. Some of the best subwoofers for the money are only available online.

cool will look more into amazon for my receiver, yeah the reviews I have read kinda make there subs hit or miss. I was looking at one of the links on here for svs any feed back for them, I would think for the price they will take more care in shipping? The high end place by me I might have to stop by and take a look, from there website im not sure what to expect looks like they do more custom work. So for a receiver should I look for Denon over pioneer, yes i want to try to get all the same brand for my speakers its a little bit of an ocd thing....lol
Thanks for the feed back guys im glad i didnt buy what I was looking into.

We've all had our share of bad shipping experiences, but don't let that stop you from getting a far better product at a far better price. The best audio products are only available via shipping.

SVS, HSU (for subs)

Ascend, SVS, KEF, Aperion, RBH, Martin Logan, Salk, Philharmonic, Infinity, and JBL are all brands worth considering for speakers.

For receivers make sure it has pre-outs and is a Pioneer, Yamaha, Onkyo, Denon or Marantz. Don't overspend on the receiver since you'll probably be replacing it in a few years anyway. Be sure the research the model no to make sure it doesn't have a lot of known issues. Every brand has duds and you want to avoid them.

Receiver - don't need to listen to, get one that has the features you want, maybe last year's model from Accessories4less.com.

Sub - You can get a much better one for the money if you order direct. Several ID companies offer to pay return postage if you send it back.

Main speakers - listen, listen, listen. Ask your friends if you can listen to theirs, go to the high end store and listen, do whatever you can to hear lots of different speakers before you buy. Put the majority of your money here - it will make the most difference to your sound.

So I think I nailed down the receiver i'm going with
MARANTZSR7008 9.2
it will give lots of room to work with, since most of the l/r speakers i'm looking at have duel posts. Then going with svs for the sub just don't know if i should go sealed or ported leaning for the 12inch maybe 10inch still not a 100% on either.
Looked into the high end store so far out of my price range! $60,000 for one pair they have wish I could shop there.....lol
Was looking at psb, polk, inifinty, rbh i've tossed in the towel on all one brand and after some reading it makes this harder cause i'm needing front ported speakers due to my fronts being right by the wall.

so here is what im looking at for speakers
front- Polk Audio CSi A6
l/r- Polk Audio RTi A7
mid/rear- Polk Audio Blackstone™ TL2
free with my order
Polk Audio PSW110
i was looking at towers for the rear but dont know if its worth the extra money or if i should just go for the small ones. ill take any feed back given from polk owners or people that have had polk. reviews seem to be good for these speakers and still leaves me cash to grab the svs sub. if i go duel sub should i do 2 tens both ported or ported and sealed?

SVS's ported subs are larger, but they offer more extension and output for your money.

I think that you're making a big mistake going with Polk out of the all the choices and that full MSRP prices I truly fail to see the wisdom in your choices.
See lsiberian post above for brands suggestions:

My recommendations for best bang for the buck (in order of preference):
Speakers:
a) Elac
b) Ascend Acoustics
c) Philharmonic AA's
d) WaveCrest Audio
e)EmpTek
f) Infinity/JBL
g) Pioneer

For subs:
a) HSU,Outlaw, Reaction
b) PSA, SVS

So you AVR choice is top tier and all the speakers your looking for aren't even close.

Check out the emptek Impression series

What is wrong with Polk? I really like my Polk Rti4's. Peace and goodwill.

My point was price of his avr selection wasnt in line with his speaker choice. The EMPTeks if sold in a retail environment would probably be in the $800 range per tower speaker . If you like your Polks thats all good. My subjective opinion on Polks line below their LSi series is that the midrange was bloated, something I dont prefer but some do.

Were those in your signature yesterday? How long have you had them? What else other than the Sonys have you compared them to in your home?
