In-Ceiling Surround Placement

I posted this in "Loudspeakers", but maybe more people here would have experience. Here's my situation: I'm looking at the Def Tech in-ceiling surrounds. I know I'll be a little limited due to how the studs are located in my attic.

How do you utilize the YPAO mike from my Yamaha receiver to determine where proper speaker placement should be?
Normally you'd just physically move the speakers around, but obviously I only want to make the holes once:D

Hi -

I have Boston in-ceilings for my rear channel, slightly to the side, with the tweeters aimed at the back wall.

I honestly have to say that they sound better to my ears than my old 555x THX dipoles.

To use the YPAO mic, your speakers need to be installed, or your yammie will set them up incorrectly.

To place the mic, mount it to a cheap tripod or stack of books, etc, so it will be where your head would be when you sit in your listening position. Plug the mic and start the setup from your set menu. this process is outlined in your manual.
