In-Ceiling Speakers - Enclosure??

I am setting up a 2nd HT in my living room on the main level of our new house. I got the room pre-wired for a 5.1 system. I am considering these from a company called Speco, which mostly does commercial systems. They are about $120 a pair. My question is should I get an enclosure for the speakers. My other alternative are these which come enclosed. The speaker will be installed in the living room ceiling between the first and second floor, under the master bath and closet.

The first ones are better quality, but the second are enclosed. Any thoughts? Thanks

You may want to add something to help deaded the sound and vibration behind and around the speakers. You may also want to look at some higher-end in wall/ceiling speakers if you haven't already.

I am a big fan of Sonance ( www.sonance.com ) speakers as they have been a forerunner of in-wall and in-ceiling designs and provide a ton of product in almost any range that you need from entry level to THX.

I agree with BMXTRIX. The Speco infactuation series is low end compared to Sonance. The Speco infatuations are fine for background music around the house, but I wouldn't recommend them for HT duty. There are also names like Proficient and Paradigm that produce HT duty ceiling speakers. Also add some insulation behind them.

Well, I cruised the sonance and speakercraft websites and did some online pricing. Think the Sonance provided more options in my price range. I am really trying to keep the cost down as this is the 2nd HT in my house. Ideally would keep total cost of speakers 500-600 (for 5.1). I know I won't be getting great sound, but it will be better than wha tI am currently getting (tv speakers).

Any further suggestions or experience on specific models??

Thanks again.

You might want to take a look at the etronics.com website. They have a large selection of ceiling speakers. Some good names and a large range of prices. I've had some good experiences buying from them.
