We are in the process of building a new house c/w whole house audio system by Breathe Audio. Ive been researching in-ceiling speakers for months now and sheesh, there are tons of good speakers available. Ive narrowed the selection down to 2 speakers:

- Nxg NXPRO103I 10 inch 150-Watt 3-Way
www (dot) hd.ca/nxgspeakers/nxpro103i.php

Or
- Niles Audio 7" Directed Soundfield Loudspeaker with Pivoting Woofer and Tweeter
www (dot) nilesaudio.com/product.php?prodID=CM750DS&recordID=Ceiling%20Mount%20Loudspeakers&categoryID=Speakers&catcdID=1&prdcdID=FG01314

The latter is recommended by a local audio expert that I have used in the past with good results.
Im looking for excellant background music quality not theater. Could someone help me decide?

Thanks

Hello ronrca and welcome to the forum.

Out of the 2 you have listed I would go with the Niles. Are you looking to do a pair for each zone or are you going to use a single stereo speaker? The 750si is the same quality but would allow you to use a single speaker for each zone or rooms that a pair would not work that well.

I would also looke at speakercraft and sonance for other brands that make high quallity inceiling speakers.

What is your budget and how many zones are you doing? The model you listed can also be used in bathrooms or outdoors. Is this a concern as well?

Appreciate your response!
Sorry for the lack of detail in reference to the house layout. It is a 2 storey house with 2 bedrooms, a master bedroom, ensuite and studio (or great room) upstairs. Downstairs we the livingroom, diningroom and kitchen as one large rectangler room as well as a den.
I have 10 zones in total! Each bedroom, masterbedroom, ensuite and studio are zoned independantly (5 zones). The bds have 1 speaker, the mbd 2, ensuite 1 and studio 2 speakers. Downstairs, there are 5 zones as well, 4 alone in the living, dining and kitchen and the den as the 5th. Number of speakers downstairs: 1 in the den, 6 in the living/dining/kitchen and 2 main wall speakers in the livingroom.

The speakers in the living/dining/kitchen are spaced 10' apart by 8' from each other.

Im looking at $2500 for a budget on speakers.
