I guess my setup requires that my surrounds are in-ceiling speakers. Anyway, I never even considered them before and don't know the first thing to look for regarding quality in these type of speakers. Unfortunately I don't want to spend a ton on them. I was hoping to spend no more than I would for a decent bookshelf surround. So basically, what should I look for? I'm also open for suggestions on what and where to get. Right now I would like to keep it around 250 but I will go up to 400 if I have to (they are only surround speakers so I don't know how much umph they need).

Thanks,

Chris

I installed a pair of Polk RC85i speakers in a customers house and thought they sounded pretty decent for an in wall speaker. I also installed their round in-ceiling speakers both RC60 and RC80i but they didint sound as clean.

It looks like finding a good deal on decent in-ceiling speakers is going to be tough.

Appreciate the link to the audioholics store from Mazer but it is over my price range. I can't justify the expense for the surrounds that those speakers would demand.

I will take a look at the polks though Haloeb.

When I was shopping around for all the gear I used, Amazon had the best prices and free shipping. ;)

There's a lot available in that price range. Check out the Speakercraft line as well as it's sister company, Proficient Audio. You can get some very nice in-ceilings for that amount of money. You can also look towards the Monitor Audio C180, as well.

I have Mirage Omnican 6's for my side and rear surrounds, and I'm VERY pleased with them.
Mains are Energy RC-70's, center is an Energy RC-LCR, subs are Mirage S10 stacked on an S12. Receiver is a Yamaha RX-V3800.
The whole rig sounds terrific to my ears.:)

Happy with Mirage Omnican 6

I also selected the Mirage Omnican 6 as an in-ceiling surround (purchased on the Internet for ~$150 a speaker). I found that they were very straightforward to install. Since I'm in the middle of retro-fitting my family room for an on-wall LCD and hidden speaker wires, etc., I just hooked up the speakers to my receiver so I can listed to music as I work on the other parts of the project.

I'm really, really impressed with how good they sound! In fact, I'm starting to wonder about just getting three more of them and using them as the main and center channel speakers...

I just put Speaker Crafts in my bedroom last night and I am very impressed with them. I do believe they sound better than my Sonance but it's not a fair fight secondary to the difference in room sizes.
