Impressive results sealing my ported box up

Hi guys interested to know your feedback on this little discovery I've made.

Currently just rolling with what I have I've been using 2 x JL Audio 12W0V3-4 car audio subwoofers in the manufacturers ported enclosure (really long and narrow rectangular port)

I chucked in the boxes specs into winISD and obviously being designed for a car its got over a 3b rise starting around 65, peaking at around 45 and then rolling off.
I've been impressed with the sound quality from it but it always had that suuuper inconsistent bass.

I wanted to make a sealed box for it and found for something of reasonable size it needs to be around 110-120 liters, yielding only a 1db rise as appose to over 3, and a flat curve from winISD, obviously having a lower FS, but thought I would make a custom box. I then went hold on, this ported box it's in is 112 litres?

Last night as a super temperamental fix I really tightly from inside and out "sealed" the ports with towels. Then a little listen. I don't own any measuring equipment but it sounded much flatter and certainly more musical, you could really hear the transient response taking effect. I will be sealing up the ports for good. I do not watch movies on my system so I find this being a good move.

Thanks guys interested to hear your thoughts or past experiences. Cheers.

I'm sure what you're doing sounds better than the stock box, but I'd build a specific enclosure for each driver (or do dual opposed if you don't have space) since multiple subs can help flatten out room modes depending on placement.

Those subs will work well depending on room size and amp size. Be sure in WinISD to put how many watts you plan to run through it so you don't go over the cone excursion limit.
