Impedance Switch on PrePro - Relevance in Seperates?

Hi

First off , this is my first post - I am learning at the same time as I am acquiring equipment. I have A Sony STR-DA5600ES receiver , which I am using as sound processor , with unbalance pre-outs going to a NAD M25 Amplifer.

My question is: does the impedance switch on my Sony AVR (choice of 4ohms or 8ohms) have relevance or change the output when I am not using the actual amplifier on the Sony , and it is being directed out of the pre-outs to my NAD?

I have PSB Image T6 towers, PSB Image C5 center and PSB Image B5 bookshelfs which are rated 8ohms nominally , 4ohms minimum.

I read on another post on the site to always leave the AVR switch at 8ohms - but I was wondering if the switch does anything (limit power) - when you are sending the source through the pre-outs and not the AVR's amp

Thanks for your help!

That 4 ohm/8 ohm switch is only relevant if you're using the Sony's internal amps.
